POTM - Photo Of The Month

Recently the empty white walls at my studio really started to bother me. Well, I have had 9 of my favorite kids pictures hanging there but it was time for an update. And most important of all, it was time to add some baby, senior and families pictures to the gallery. So I went ahead and ordered 12 more big 'ole prints. Most of them 24x30 plus some in 16x20. Since I've never been a big fan of frames I got all my prints mounted on foam bord and just put them on a tiny ledge that's screwed into the wall. Let me tell yall - it looks pretty awesome :)

So while I was arranging my new beloved pictures I've had the idea for the 'photo of the month' contest.

Here's the deal:

Each month I will be posting my favorites from all sessions of the previous month. You get to vote for your Number One by using the pole below. The winning picture will be displayed on my studio walls for one month and then be given to the contest winner. That means that person or family will receive a free mounted 16x20 picture for their home!!

This kid needs your help!!

Meet Tank, a happy little baby boy who loves to smile and play just like any other kid. Just looking at him you would never suspect that he has a serious liver disease known as Biliary Atresia which made him have surgery when he was only 4 weeks old. Unfortunately this surgery did not help as well as we were all hoping. After being on a feeding tube for months he his pretty stable right now but will need a liver transplant soon.

To help him and his family 'Sweet 200' is having a FUNRAZOR for him on April 5th. All haircuts will be $50. The money will go directly to Tanks Liver Transplant.

Kids/Family: Logan and Niki {dallas family photographer}

I know Logan since his mom Niki hired me to shoot his baby pictures when he was only a few weeks old. Now, a couple of years later, he has grown into a handsome little whirlwind. I love his big blue eyes.

Senior: Bonnie {dallas senior photographer}

We shot Bonnie's session by the old trains in Grapevine. A really great location. Thank you Bonnie for coming all the way from Houston!!

Newborn: Greta May {dallas newborn photographer}

One of the smoothest newborn sessions I have ever shot. Greta was asleep almost the entire time of the shooting which made it easy to put her in all kind of cute poses. Isn't she precious???

Baby: Cooper {dallas baby photographer}

Cooper is my friend Laura's third boy and he is absolutely adorable. He was about 4 weeks old when I photographed him. Hooray for babies with hats!!

Senior: Amie {dallas senior photographer}

This is going to be a BIG and important post because I feel like I took my photography to the next level. Every photographer sets his/her personal goals of what they want to achieve, new thing they want to try. Be it new locations, posing, lighting or post processing. In each of these categories there were some things I've always wanted to do different or better. For the longest time I wanted to shoot a ultra-modern & fashionable senior session to use for my studio website. I imagined the pictures to look like a fashion spread in a teen magazine. I also wanted to get out of my comfort zone of shooting mainly in the shade and instead try the trendy back light & sun flare. On my list as well was the use of different lenses to create a smaller depth of field. And last but not least I had my eyes on a new set of actions to use for my editing. Now I just needed the right model and when I came across Amie on myspace I felt like the last missing piece was found. Everything just magically fell into place. We shot her session wandering around Fort Worth on a windy but sunny day, trying all sorts of new things.. I really could not be happier with the result. Hope you enjoy..
